Insideout Wellness Coda Corner: Patience!

I’m working on my patience right now. I’m not a girl who loves the rain. I don’t mind a nice afternoon thunderstorm, or showers off and on during the day, but rain day after day is not for me! Obviously, I would not do good living in Seattle! I am definitely  a Florida sunshine person. So, I’ve been thinking about having patience and the sun will come out again this week. I was also thinking about my clients (some of them) and how impatient they may get reaching their goals. They want to be healthy, lose weight, get fit, be empowered inside and out RIGHT NOW!

You would think I would have learned patience growing up in a family of farmers. I remember the process it took each spring to til the ground and get it prepared, then plant the seeds and wait and wait for the harvest. We were always so excited for the first tomatoes, or corn. Great Grandma would say, “if you pick it too early, it will be bitter and harm the plant”.

Wait for the harvest

We all could use a little patience with ourselves in all our areas of growth and change. Some days we do better than others. Sometimes we get what we want right away. Most times, it takes patience and consistency. Things take time. Sometimes we have lessons to  learn first, lessons we need so that we can actually ACCEPT and BELIEVE the good we deserve. When I work with clients who have mistreated their bodies and not loved themselves by having no boundaries in relationships or life, I tell them it takes baby steps. It doesn’t happen over night. It is a process, but the baby steps accumulate and before you know it…your feeling better, looking better, loving yourself more.

Be patient. Relax and trust. Let go. Then, let go some more. Good things will come to us. Devote your energy today to living your  life the best you know how and learning your lessons as quickly as possible. Its the journey that counts and that you stay on your path. Not the pace. If we continue working on our health and wellness physically, spiritually,  and emotionally, we will start to bear the fruit. It just takes patience.
